There are many methods of making a welded wire mesh panel. It can be made of simple welded mesh, electro galvanized wires, hot-dipped galvanized or plastic coated mesh panels.
Saving day to day cost plays the major role in many industries. Hence it is also supplied in plain steel without galvanizing which make sit cheap without compromising on the non-corrosive nature of the material.
Now, coming to the manufacture of wire fabric, it is made up of steel wires arranged in parallel fashion in two orthogonal directions, with a welding joint done by electrical welding process (also called as spot welding which involves welding at the point of contact between the wires). It is done with the help of welding machine. The raw material used in the manufacture of panels is wire made through cold rolling or by wire drawings performed using hot rolled wire which is produced in the steel works.
These wire meshes are used for various purposes, for example ‘Gabion’. It is an element in the form of blocks and is made of steel wire mesh, which is either welded or woven, and has hexagonal, square or rectangular openings. These are then filled with natural stones and are used in river, hill protection or is even used in construction.
Wire mesh gabions can be of any shape and size, they can be even in the shape of a block or be regular cube size. Special wire bins are made of robust wire which is then filled with the vibrations at the quarry and transport are accompanied by lifting straps.
Gabions are useful in making boxes, baskets, mattress and cages. Mainly they are used in building blocks of gravity walls, soil retention walls and many reinforced structures. Hexagonal welded wire mesh panels, chain link fences or square welded wire mesh panels are the common wire mesh materials used for making Gabions.
Gabions are used commonly everywhere. Some of their applications have been listed below:
- To strengthen ropes.
- Gabion retaining walls have more flexibility, are robust and have a high drainage capacity.
- Assembling of Geo-technical installations.
- To expand or construct roads on slopes.
- Construct railway embankments.
- Protecting the river bank form erosion.
Welded wire mesh panels are also used for fencing. These wire mesh panels, along with fencing posts and other fittings are used in industries as they provide a strong and elegant setup.
Welded wire mesh panel of stainless steel material offer better strength, integration and longer work time as compared to other wire meshes. It is durable, non-corrosive and firm, especially when stainless steel gauges of 302 and 304 are used.
Applications: Welded wire mesh panels is used in various fields like in transportation, providing facilities for entertainment and the like. Welded wire mesh panels are used as security and isolation fencing for pedestrians, in making pavements, transport centers and other public places.
A welded wire mesh panel is used in making fencing for goats, horse as well as fencing for farms and livestock. They are used in earth surface stability by fabricating into containers, suitable for support of earth surface stability. Welded wire mesh panel are also used in mining fields.
Welded wire mesh panel find use even in the other industries and are also used for general purpose in machine protection, cages for equipment, support for cables and pipes, covers for fans and ventilation devices and the like.
