You’ve finally found time to do something amazing with your garden fence. It’s summer, you have the month free and all you have to worry about is picking up the best decorative wire mesh that is available to adorn your fence. Forget about your boss, forget about nagging deadlines, and focus on designing a fence that will be the talk of the neighborhood.

You will have to dedicate some time to designing a fence that would be enviable. There are a few things you need to keep in mind while purchasing supplies from the hardware store. The first basic thing is, understanding why you need fencing around your lawn. It is to ensure security and protection to your plants on which you have spent so much time planting and tending. So, you need to be prepared to spend a little more money to ensure quality fencing.

You need to take care of two basic factors when designing a decorative fence around your house. Aesthetics and protection; both are equally important if you want to get value for your money. There are a number of pre fabricated fences available today, but, not all of them offer both protection and style. You need to keep an eye out to find the one that gives you all that you want from your decorative fence.

Decorative Steel Wire Mesh

When designing fencing, you need three basic things: a decorative wire mesh, a framework, and gates and fittings. Most decorative wire mesh fences have a coating of zinc and polyester. Often, people tend to procure a mesh that is flimsy and not heavy, but, these are easy to bend and can be torn apart by hyper active animals. It is essential that one gets a decorative wire mesh that is of good quality, and is relatively heavy and not easy to tear off.

When looking for a decorative wire mesh you need to keep a few particular things in mind. You need to pay particular attention to the quality of the mesh if you want a fence that will last you a long time. You need to base your evaluation of the mesh on three basic criteria: a) distance between two wires, b) coating used for protective covering and c) the gauge number. Most people think that the higher the gauge, the better would be the quality; contrarily, it is the other way around. The gauge number is an indication of the amount of steel in the wires. The smaller the number, the higher the quantity of steel present in the wires, and the higher the gauge number, smaller the quantity of steel used in the wires. It is ideal to go in for a decorative wire mesh with a 4 – 6 gauge numbering.

The distance between the vertical lines should be very small. The smaller the distance, the higher the amount of steel used. More steel ensures strength and security. A four-inch distance should be your preferred choice. When looking at the coating, ask for zinc coating. Zinc helps in rust retardation by forming a protective oxidation layer. Ideally, the decorative wire mesh should have a coating of zinc for oxidation layers, and polyester coating as a protection against corrosion.

Make sure you put in as much effort while picking the framework as well. A little time now can save you a lot of money and maintenance hassles in the long run.
